Welcome to Paulides.com

Johannes Paulus Paulides was born in 1763 in Nijhaske, close to Heerenveen.

He became a gold- an silversmith in Heerenveen, and many of his children and grand children did the same.

Still today, his products are found in the region and other places in Holland.

When Napoleon introduced familynames in the Netherlands in 1812, Johannes and his brother Lammert choose the name Paulides.

Paulides is a greek name, meaning "son of Paul". And indeed, Johannes and Tjeerd were both sons of Paulus Lammerts (1720 < 1811)

Today, all dutch Paulides families stam from Johannes.
